Book development

Looking further into the understanding of books and the way they are produced. (2017: p2) Colberg, J ‘Conceptually, a photography album is a very specific photo-book. It usually is made over time reflecting, say, person’s or family history. Its producer edits it by selecting some photographs over others. In all likelihood, an album mostly contains happier, noteworthy moments in life. in this sense, albums are items of personal propaganda.’ The way that this quote explains the work of an album is that it can be looking at personal propaganda due to the way that the work has been created and sequenced. The way that I understand this is that when work is taken out of a sequence of days and only shows the memorable parts, it changes the narrative of the work. This is also the way that if you put a camera in a room, people will usually smile, as this has become a natural reaction to the presence of a camera. This therefore shows the change in narrative across all of the work produced in photography and in wider media when evolving personal portraits or people.
