For a start, it would have helped if I had downloaded the right one!
The version that I had downloaded was just Lightroom; however, I should have downloaded Lightroom Classic. This had complications because the parts that I needed to use didn’t exist in this version. However, it did allow me to learn more about the different versions.
When reinstalling Lightroom Classic, I then managed to get the collections to activate and work. This made me look carefully through my images and brought a new perspective to editing that I had never thought about.
To create a catalogue in Lightroom Classic, you first need to create a new catalogue. This is done by going to File and selecting ‘new. When created, import the images from the copied file, which should be on an internal drive. This will import them into the catalogue and be inside this section alone. This can then create a collection. Then, by right-clicking the collection, you can’set as target collection’ and this will cause the images to go into this section when pressing B on the keyboard.
Creating a contact sheet.
This is done by going to print and then selecting user templates. This allows you to choose from a selection of different auto-templates that have already been set up. After selecting a template, you can then select all images and print the images as a contact sheet into a pdf (this will ask you where you want to save).
